The Seattle Parks Department is planning to renovate E Union’s T.T. Minor playground and will hold two community meetings in coming weeks to help shape the $500,000 overhaul.

The city says the project will replace the play equipment for both younger and older children, and will include pathway paving “to ensure an accessible route to and through the play area.” Reducing the size of the sandbox area to allow space for other uses is also on the table.

The project will be funded through the King County Parks Levy providing $46,000 while the REET Real Estate Excise Tax-provides $454,000. Work would begin in summer of 2024 and construction would close the play area through the duration.

Seattle Parks says the first meeting in October will discuss three project ideas and will include time for community feedback on ideas for enhancing the play area. A preferred play area design will be unveiled at the November meeting.
